Fall practices and activities have begun and soon we will be seeing the yellow school buses rolling again, as we near the start of the 2021-22 school year. The Pelican Rapids School District staff is excited to welcome students back into our buildings and classrooms for in-person learning. In addition, I would like to provide a warm welcome back to our students, families, faculty and staff.
Over the past couple of years, COVID-19 has created challenges within many of our lives, including education. I would like to thank our dedicated educators and staff, resilient students, supportive families and community members for helping us navigate through the unchartered territories. Together, we have strived to provide safe, positive learning experiences to students and families.
As we start the 2021-22 school year, district staff will focus on restoring a sense of normalcy, while promoting learning and student achievement. We will also be focusing on mental and physical health. Our leadership teams will continue to use lessons learned from past experiences to help improve this year’s planning, teaching and learning.
Throughout the school year, our schools will continue to follow safety protocols and recommendations provided by Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Otter Tail County Public Health (OTCPH). As we receive updates from MDH and OTCPH, our District COVID-19 Team will make any necessary adjustments, throughout the school year. The COVID-19 team will provide Friday updates using the COVID-19 Dashboard, which will be posted on the Pelican Rapids Public School District website and Pelican Rapids Public Schools Facebook page. Any changes made to the instructional learning model will be communicated via email, instant alert and social media.
Lastly, I would like to thank our students, families, staff, school board and community members for their continued support of Pelican Rapids Schools. Let’s make this year great! Go Vikings!
