    Mindset Matters...

    Fixed VS. Growth Mindset:

Encouraging children to have a growth mindset is very important. Children with fixed mindsets tend to ignore feedback, whereas children with growth mindsets tend to learn from feedback.

What can you do to help? Encourage Failure! Your child needs to know that failure can and does happen. And that is okay! Remind your child that each time he/she fails and tries again, his/her brain is growing stronger! Don’t try to stop or prevent failure- this is how children learn to persevere in the face of challenges.

Summer 2018

  • ‘Building the Profile of a 2036 Graduate’ community input sessions

The ‘Building the Profile of a 2036 Graduate’ journey began last fall with the district raising the question, “What are the hopes, aspirations and dreams that our community has for our young people of Pelican Rapids?”

A team of parents, community members, teachers and district leadership have reviewed research and made recommendations of six competencies needed for student success in our ever-changing world.

Stakeholder input is an important part of this process so this is an opportunity to provide input on these collaboratively developed traits for the 2036 Graduate of Pelican Rapids.

Superintendent Anderson and team representatives will be at the following locations on Wednesday, July 25 to share the six competencies and gather your input:

    • The Muddy Moose - 7:30-8:30am
    • Pelican Rapids Public Library - 1:00-2:00pm
    • Pelican Rapids Schools Media Center -7:00-8:00pm (enter west door #8)
