    8th Grade Global Studies will examine the 6 Themes of Geography and how these themes are incorporated into the Minnesota Geography Standards for grade 8.

     Course Outline:

     Each Unit will be examined in terms of the 6 Themes of Geography

    1.     The World in Spatial Terms

    a.     The location of things and how they interrelate.

                                                   i.     Maps and Atlases

                                                  ii.     Latitude and Longitude

                                                iii.     Recalling from memory locations of things on Earth

    2.     Places and Regions

    a.     Human and Physical characteristics of a place

    b.     Location

    3.     Physical Systems

    a.     Seasons, Storms, Weather, Climate, etc.

    4.     Human Systems

    a.     Why people live where they do.

    b.     Population, Movements, Travel, Culture, Politics, Religion, etc.

    5.     Environment and Society

    a.     Development. 

                                                   i.     Climate change, deforestation, erosion

    6.     Uses Of Geography

    a.     Planning

    b.     Trips

    c.      Development

    Semester 1:  Economics

    Senior Economics addresses the Economics Standards for grades 9-12 as approved by the State of Minnesota.

    Unit 1

    Economic themes and terms.   The basic question in economics.

    Unit 2

    Economic Systems, Capitalism, Communism, The American Economy.

    Unit 3

    Consumers, Going into Debt, Saving and Investing

    Unit 4

    Microeconomics, Demand and Supply, Business Organizations, Competition and Monopolies.

    Unit 5

    Marketing and Distribution, American Labor Force

    Unit 6      

    Federal Reserve, Government Spending and Taxes, Stabilizing the Economy, Trading with other Nations, Global Economy
