Superintendent Welcome

I want to extend a warm welcome back to all our students, families, and staff at Pelican Rapids Schools! The 2026-27 school year is upon us, and I sincerely hope each of you had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, joy, and cherished moments with family and friends.

Over the summer, our district staff have been diligently preparing for the new school year. Our dedicated teachers have been updating curriculum, reviewing state standards, and exploring instructional strategies that will inspire and engage our students. At the same time, improvements have been made to our buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment for everyone.

Throughout the upcoming school year, our commitment remains focused on providing every student with a safe, supportive, and high-quality educational experience. The School Board and administration have established the following district goals:

1. 75% of students are ready for kindergarten based on teacher assessment.
2. 60% or more of FRP students will collectively score in the top 3 levels on MCA Reading and MCA Math assessments.
3. 100% of students graduating from Pelican Rapids High School have a plan to attend postsecondary education, military, or work force.
4. Pelican Rapids High School graduation rate will exceed the statewide graduation rate.

This fall, we are also excited to begin an important Long-Term Planning process that will help shape the future of Pelican Rapids Schools. Beginning August 24, we will engage students, staff, parents, community members, and local business leaders in conversations about our district's future. Together, we will evaluate our facilities and grounds, learning environments, and educational programming to identify priorities that will guide our decisions for years to come. This collaborative process will provide valuable insight as the administration and School Board develop a long-range vision that reflects the needs, values, and aspirations of our community. We encourage everyone to participate and share their ideas as we work together to build an even stronger future for Pelican Rapids Schools.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our students, families, dedicated staff, supportive School Board, and the entire Pelican Rapids community. Your partnership, commitment, and belief in our schools are what make our district such a special place to learn and grow. I am excited for the opportunities that the 2026-27 school year will bring and look forward to another outstanding year of learning, achievement, and Viking pride.
