Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)/Federal Title
Title I funding is a form of federal funding with the purpose to provide funding to expand educational programs in low-income areas. Schools are awarded Title I funds based on Free and Reduced lunch number counts and student enrollment data. With these funds, the district is not only able to provide collaboration opportunities to staff and students but also to provide six interventionists to support classroom teachers with the focus being on math and reading.
Title II funding is a form of federal funding that the district uses for class-size reduction. This funding allows for Viking Elementary to supply an additional classroom section in one grade.
Title III is a federal education program designed to help ensure that children who are English Learners, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency. Viking Elementary is able to use this funding to add bi-lingual paraprofessionals to our staff.
Community Feeding Hub Feeding Grant
The purpose of the grant is to establish community feeding hubs for adults at the existing Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites. Priority must be given to adult members of households with children currently served by nutrition services, but any adult may be served if funds are available.
The grant funding is a one-time payment and is not enough to sustain the program for a long period of time.
