PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options)
PSEO is an opportunity for students in grades 10 through 12 to earn college credit through MN colleges. If you are interested in PSEO classes, here are the steps:
1. Meet with the counselor to learn more. Must be completed by May 1.
2. Set up parent meeting to review application process, paperwork and guidelines. Meetings must be held by May 15 in order to ensure that the process is done in sufficient time.
3. Apply and complete paperwork by deadlines.
4. Enroll in classes at the college of your choice.
In the state of Minnesota, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors are given the opportunity to take college courses at their high school via Concurrent Enrollment, Advanced Placement, and/or PSEO through an eligible post-secondary institution. At PRHS we offer Concurrent Enrollment Classes via U of M Crookston and Advanced Placement Courses via the College Board. Students that choose to take college courses through Concurrent Enrollment, AP and/or a PSEO program do not have to pay tuition, fees, or books during his/her Junior/Senior year of high school. Credits will count towards graduation at his/her high school; however, it is important that you meet with your counselor to discuss what credits will meet the graduation requirements at the state level.
To be eligible for Concurrent Enrollment, students must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher. AP enrollment is determined by the teacher.
To be eligible for PSEO, junior students must rank in the top third of their class and seniors must rank in the top half of their class. Before enrolling in PSEO, students and parent(s) must meet with their school counselor to determine eligibility and to discuss graduation requirements.
