Pelican RapidsAlternative Learning Center (ALC) serves students in Grades 7-12

Our goal is to to bridge the gap between student skill level and actual grade level.

Mid Level-Grades 7-8

Middle School Academy

▪ Core Courses Taught Math, English, Science

▪ Compass Learning provides individualized on-line learning for each student

▪ School-within-a-School allows students to be pulled out of one or more regular classes to attend the Academy for alternative delivery of content

▪ Focus on Skills & Objectives not yet mastered by student

▪ Works on Grade Level Material which allows them to keep up with rest of the students in their grade

▪ No Homework unless student not working to their ability in class or absent

▪ Monthly Progress Report to Parents/Guardians

Remediation

▪ Core Courses Supplemented Math, English, Science

▪ Focus on Specific Grade Level Skills that student can bring back to regular core classes to help with school success

▪ Occurs During School Day Study Hall or Power Hour (8th hour)

High School-Grades 9-12

Credit Recovery

▪ Customized Classes needed to keep up with graduating class

▪ Individualized Learning based on the credits needed to graduate

▪ School-within-a-School allows student to be pulled out of one or more regular classes (such as study hall or 8th hour)

Alternative Programming

▪ Classes core & elective courses available

▪ Focus on Specific Course needed to graduate

▪ Flexible Hours can work around employment and childcare needs of student

▪ School Support Skills that help students achieve school success
