Our Alternative Learning Center (ALC) offers students: · Small Class Size · One-on-one Instruction · Compass Learning Curriculum (on-line individualized) · Comfortable Learning Environment · School within a School · Continual Learning Plan (CLP) for each student · Basic Skill Remediation · Summer Sessions · Individualized Education · State Approved · Tuition-Free · Opportunity to Earn a High School Diploma · Career Exploration Mid Level-Grades 7-8 Middle School Academy ▪ Core Courses Taught Math, English, Science ▪ Compass Learning provides individualized on-line learning for each student ▪ School-within-a-School allows students to be pulled out of one or more regular classes to attend the Academy for alternative delivery of content ▪ Focus on Skills & Objectives not yet mastered by student ▪ Works on Grade Level Material which allows them to keep up with rest of the students in their grade ▪ No Homework unless student not working to their ability in class or absent ▪ Monthly Progress Report to Parents/Guardians Remediation ▪ Core Courses Supplemented Math, English, Science ▪ Focus on Specific Grade Level Skills that student can bring back to regular core classes to help with school success ▪ Occurs During School Day Study Hall or Power Hour (8th hour) High School-Grades 9-12

Who is eligible to enroll? Students who enroll in this type of program typically have or are experiencing difficulty or challenges in one or more of the following areas: attendance, teen parents and/or childcare responsibility, working students, academics, chemical abuse issues, English as a Second Language (ESL), have NOT passed the Minnesota Comprehensive Assesments (MCA). ALC Class Times The ALC classes will be in an Individual Study format to meet each student's needs. Individual Study classes will meet Tuesdays (1:00 - 7:00) and Thursdays (1:00 -7:00) in PRHS Room 54. |
Admission Students who are not currently enrolled in a Public High School will need to complete a registration form. Acceptance into the program will be determined by a Student Success Team who will make their decision based on need, eligibility and qualifying criteria.
